What does an appointment look like?
How much time can you work?
Think about a typical week: how many of your available appointment spots actually get booked? For example, if you have 20 spots and book 10, you’re half full. Count only time you’re available to take clients, not breaks or days off. An estimate is fine; if services vary in length, compare booked hours with available hours.
Adjust pay, expenses & reserves
How this works: studio pay estimates service sales × commission less your withholding estimate. Independent pay subtracts per-client costs and monthly overhead, then applies your tax planning reserve. Required utilization is the appointment time needed for your income goal divided by your available appointment hours. It does not measure how booked you are today.
